This is a rain or shine event Packet Pick Up and MANDATORY bike check with helmet fitting - Will be available at: Bicycle Outfitters - 3pm - 7pm on Friday the 9th of September34D- Catoctin Circle, SE Leesburg, VA http://www.bikeoutfitters.com (703) 777-6126 Due to the amount of effort it takes to check bicycles and helmets it is impossible to do this on Saturday morning and still host a great event. We do not have the manpower to do both so please respect our desire to keep all the athletes safe and see you in Leesburg Friday night. Volunteers – If you wish to volunteer for this event please use the Volunteer tab on top and we will be in touch. We are looking for responsible people to help out with this event. The enthusiastic volunteers will receive food and goodies for their efforts. Athletes or the athlete parents are responsible for counting the completed laps Course
Description -
Kids
Tri the Valley will kick off at 8:30 am with Wave 1 (ages 6 and 7),
Wave 2
(ages 8 and 9), Wave 3 (ages 10, 11, and 12), and finally Wave 4 (ages
13, 14
and 15).
Wave
1 – Ages 6 and 7 will start the swim portion with a single
length of 25 yards
and every athlete will have 15 seconds between athletes, followed by a
1 mile cycle
and a 1/4
mile
run.
Wave 2 – Ages 8 and 9
will swim 50 yards by going the length and
return on the opposite side of the lane with 15 seconds between
athlete, 1
1/2 mile cycle,
and strong a
1/4
mile run
finish. Wave 3 – Ages 10, 11, and 12
will snake swim for 100 yards with 15
seconds between athlete,
cycle 2 miles,
and then run
1/2 mile.
Wave 4 – Ages 13, 14, and 15
will snake swim a 150 yard swim with
15 seconds between athlete, do
a quick 2 mile cycle, and run
3/4 mile cross-country around the pool.
All
distances are subject to change and are approximate. For the non
swimmers there will be a Duathlon set up
similar to the Triathlon. We will have a cross country run
instead of the swim portion. Wave 1-
6 and 7 - will be a 1/10 mile run, 1 mile cycle, and
finish with a 1/4 mile
run. Wave 2 -
8 and 9- will be a 1/4 mile run, 1 ½ mile cycle and a 1/4
mile run. Not to forget the little ones, we will have a Run Trike Run! Open to ages 3, 4, and 5 who want to do what the elder sibling is doing or just wants to get active in a safe environment. This will be a run through a closed rectangle and then trike around the perimeter of the rectangle and finish with a run back through the rectangle to end where they started. We had a successful run at this last year and will continue it.. We ask that the support teams for the athletes please respect the tape and fences and allow LoCo Racing to do their job in providing a safe and fun event. We will do our best to provide a SAFE and FRIENDLY course. Race
Numbers –
In
your race packet you
will have three race numbers that you must have in the appropriate
places in
order to participate in the event.
Run Number – This is the largest
number in the packet. You
must have this
facing front during the
bike and run portion of the event. If you use a race belt
great if not safety
pins work. The numbers are for athlete identification as well as photographs Body
Marking –
This
will be completed
by the LoCo
Racing
Staff the morning of the event upon arrival. Transition
Area
– The TA is a secure
place for various reasons. Safety
is a
major concern and for this you must walk your bike out of and into the
TA. Please watch
for other athletes entering and
exiting the TA. Swim
Start
– Each wave has different
distances. Wave 1
will start and
complete one length of the pool, exit the pool and walk out of the pool
area
and head to transition. Wave
2 will be
one lap where the athlete will swim on the right side of lane 1 and
touch the
opposite wall and return on the left side of the same lane. Wave 3 and 4 will be a
snake swim where the
athlete will swim on the right side of lane one touch the opposite wall
and
return on the left side of the same lane then go under the rope into
the next
lane to the left and repeat the process until the distance is completed. They will then exit the
pool and walk out of
the pool area then head to transition. After the race: All athletes will receive a t-shirt from Reston Shirt and Graphics in their race packet and a finisher’s medal upon completion.Food and refreshments will be available for the athletes and lots more available at |

Absolutely “NO” registration or packet-pickup on race day! Each athlete MUST show valid USAT card . If you forgot your ID or membership card don’t hate us as you drive back to get it. The athlete must pick up the packet in PERSON due to insurance liability concerns. NO EXCEPTIONS! No “Refunds” or “Transfers” will be accepted |
